The Web Performance Working Group has published User Timing Level 2 as a W3C Recommendation. This specification defines an interface to help web developers measure the performance of their applications by giving them access to high precision timestamps. User Timing Level 2 is intended to supersede the first version of User Timing specification.

The  Web Performance Working Group  invites implementations of an updated Candidate Recommendation of  High Resolution Time Level 2 . This specification defines an API that provides the time origin, and current time in sub-millisecond resolution, such that it is not subject to system clock skew or adjustments.

W3C Invites Implementations of Preload

26 October 2017 The  Web Performance Working Group  invites implementations of the  Preload  Candidate Recommendation. This specification defines the  preload keyword that may be used with  link  elements. This keyword provides a declarative fetch primitive that initiates an early fetch and separates fetching from resource execution.

W3C Invites Implementations of Performance Timeline Level 2

8 December 2016 The  Web Performance Working Group  invites implementation of the Candidate Recommendation of  Performance Timeline Level 2 . This specification extends the High Resolution Time specification by providing methods to store and retrieve high resolution performance metric data. Accurately measuring performance characteristics of web applications is an important aspect of making web applications faster. This specification defines the necessary Performance Timeline primitives that enable web developers to access, instrument, and retrieve various performance metrics from the full lifecycle of a web application.

Last Call: Beacon, Resource Timing Candidate Recommendation Updated

24 June 2014 The Web Performance Working Group has published a Last Call Working Draft of Beacon . This specification defines an interoperable means for site developers to asynchronously transfer small HTTP data from the User Agent to a web server. Comments are welcome through 29 July 2014 . The Web Performance Working Group also updated the Candidate Recommendation of Resource Timing . W3C Workshop: Web Performance

28 September 2012 W3C announced a Workshop on Web Performance , 8 November, hosted by Google at their Mountain View, California campus. As the Open Web Platform expands, the need for high performance implementation has grown, particularly on mobile devices. Participants will examine a broad range of performance issues and how they might be addressed. There is no fee to participate in this Workshop and W3C Membership is not required. All participants are required to submit a statement of interest by 29 October.
