The  Accessible Rich Internet Applications Working Group  invites implementations of the following Candidate Recommendation Snapshots: Digital Publishing WAI-ARIA Module 1.1 : Enabling users of assistive technologies to find their way through web content requires embedding semantic metadata about web document structural divisions. This is particularly important for structural divisions of long-form documents and goes along with embedding semantic metadata about web-application widgets and behaviors for assistive technologies. The Digital Publishing Accessibility API Mappings (DPub-AAM) defines how   user agents   map the Digital Publishing WAI-ARIA Module [ dpub-aria-1.1 ] markup to platform   accessibility  APIs . It is intended for user agent developers responsible for accessibility in their user agent so that they can support the accessibility content produced for digital publishing. W3C Invites Implementations of WAI-ARIA 1.2

  The   Accessible Rich Internet Applications Working Group  invites implementations of a Candidate Recommendation of   Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) 1.2 . This specification provides an ontology of roles, states, and properties that define accessible user interface elements and can be used to improve the accessibility and interoperability of web content and applications. These semantics are designed to allow an author to properly convey user interface behaviors and structural information to assistive technologies in document-level markup. This version adds features new since   WAI-ARIA 1.1   to improve interoperability with assistive technologies to form a more consistent accessibility model for [ HTML ] and [ SVG2 ]. Call for Review: Graphics-ARIA and Graphics-AAM are W3C Proposed Recommendations

26 June 2018 The  Accessible Rich Internet Applications Working Group  has published two Proposed Recommendations: WAI-ARIA Graphics Module (Graphics-ARIA) : Assistive technologies need semantic information about the structures and expected behaviors of a document in order to convey appropriate information to persons with disabilities. This specification defines a WAI-ARIA 1.1 [WAI-ARIA-1.1] module of core roles specific to web graphics. These semantics allow an author to express the logical structure of the graphic to assistive technologies in order improve accessibility of graphics. Assistive technologies could then enable semantic navigation and adapt styling and interactive features, to provide an optimal experience for the audience. W3C Invites Implementations of Accessible Name and Description Computation 1.1

19 June 2018 The  Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) Working Group  invites implementations of  Accessible Name and Description Computation 1.1  Candidate Recommendation. This document describes how user agents determine the names and descriptions of accessible objects from web content languages. This information is in turn exposed through accessibility APIs so that assistive technologies can identify these objects and present their names or descriptions to users. Documenting the algorithm through which names and descriptions are to be determined promotes interoperable exposure of these properties among different accessibility APIs and helps to ensure that this information appears in a manner consistent with author intent. Call for Review: Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) 1.0 advances to Proposed Recommendation

6 February 2014 The Protocols and Formats Working Group (PFWG) today published Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) 1.0 and the WAI-ARIA 1.0 User Agent Implementation Guide as Proposed Recommendations. WAI-ARIA is a technical specification for making dynamic, interactive Web content accessible to people with disabilities. WAI-ARIA and supporting documents are described in the WAI-ARIA Overview . Using WAI-ARIA in HTML Working Draft Published

3 October 2013 The HTML Working Group has published an updated Working Draft of Using WAI-ARIA in HTML . Using WAI-ARIA in HTML is a practical guide for developers on how to add accessibility information to HTML elements using the Accessible Rich Internet Applications ( WAI-ARIA ) specification, which defines a way to make Web content and Web applications more accessible to people with disabilities. Role Attribute Published as W3C Recommendation

28 March 2013 The Protocols and Formats Working Group (PFWG) published Role Attribute as a W3C Recommendation. Role Attribute is an XML attribute that allows authors to add semantic information to documents. Role Attribute supports WAI-ARIA , the Accessible Rich Internet Applications technical specification for making dynamic, interactive web content accessible to people with disabilities.
