The  Internationalization Working Group  has published a first Draft Note of  Urdu Gap Analysis . This document describes and prioritises gaps for the support of Urdu on the Web and in eBooks. In particular, it is concerned with text layout. It checks that needed features are supported in W3C specifications, in particular HTML and CSS and those relating to digital publications. It also checks whether the features have been implemented in browsers and ereaders.  This is a preliminary analysis .   W3C is pleased to announce the  report from the W3C Workshop on Smart Cities , held on 25 June 2021. The main goal of the workshop was to improve and finalize the description of the  draft Charter for a potential Smart Cities Interest Group  so that we can launch the Interest Group and start further discussions on (1) interoperability for Web-based Smart City services and (2) use cases and requirements that W3C specifications need to meet to support Smart City services. 8 February 2018 W3C today announced a collaboration with  Jefferson University  User Experience and Interaction Design program, which has  established a class and a small working group of student designers  to  re-design the W3C’s specification template, aiming to make the standards for the web easier to use . The scope, requirements and audiences considerations are listed in the  SpecProd/Restyle wiki . The students are asking for your guidance, criticism and participation; and will be posting updates, sharing explorations and revisions, and requesting feedback via the  Jefferson + W3C Collaboration blog . Everyone who uses or produces W3C specifications is invited to follow along and contribute. This will be a semester-long project for the students, with the goal of producing a prototype for May 2018.
